The snow is coming!

We could get a lot. Or maybe not. Depends on how the storm goes, but it's looking like several inches, starting later today. Ralph got out the snowblower and got it ready.

Scotland Run does dinner for 2 to go, and we tried it last night. It was great! Hot turkey with gravy and mashed, toast to put it on, Italian wedding soup and bread, Ceaser salad,  and cinnamon buns for dessert! We saved the soup and half the salad for today, and there's enough turkey for at least one more serving. They do it Wednesday thru Saturday, and post the menus on Mondays. I just found it on Facebook and I don't know how long it's been going on. It's a bit of a hike for us, about a half hour-ish, but it was worth it.

Yesterday morning we made a library curbside pickup run. I had 13 books requested, and 12 were in, and a storm is coming. Of course #13 got to the library after it was closed to patrons, but I'll get it next week.

I was looking for spring shower curtains, and found a cactus one! Of course I texted the link to Heather, since Jules is crazy for cactus.

We heard back from our doc's office, and have our Covid immunization dates! March 1 for #1, March 29 for #2. I have a running list of places I want to go after mid April, including Lenscrafters for new glasses!

Mom and I had our ears pierced together in the early 70's. I haven't had earrings in for probably ten years, and decided I wanted to see if the holes were still open. The left one was, the right one not so much. I poked it with an earring each day, pushing it in further each day, and finally last night I was able to force it thru! Yeah, it hurt a bit, and bled a few drops, but no pain, no gain! So now I can wear earrings again, yay!

So we're got leftover enchiladas, soup, and the turkey from last night. Tonight will be a leftover night, as we wait for the snow to come. And tomorrow is February!

Snowy forecast

Our local (Philly) Action News weatherman Adam Joseph is usually pretty accurate. Last night he said snow is coming Sunday night, Monday, and Tuesday! He advised staying home, so I just changed my routine dermatologist appointment. It's silly to go out when I don't have to.

Earlier in the week I made chicken enchiladas with sweet potatoes on the side. One of our favorites, with enough for another meal or so.

Yesterday I made chicken noodle soup in the crockpot and biscuits. A good meal for a cold day, and soup enough for a few days.

I spent a lot of time this week on the cross stitch.

I just started this, an oldie that I never read. I also read another few chapters of Obama's book.

And I spend a lot of time with the TV on, watching the shitshow that is our Senate and House. Biden is doing a great job, took off running. But the idiot Republicans who a few weeks ago were hiding in their offices and now refusing to denounce the impeached one. It's enough to make you sick. Good thing I'm not a drinker, or I'd spend my life drunk. History will wonder WTF.

A quiet weekend

With the pandemic, all our weekends are quiet. It was cold out, so I stayed in. Ralph hurt his back so he's laying low, and took a nap. Then he played an online game with Steph, Manda, Amary and Garrett.

I made tacos for dinner, we haven't had them in weeks.

When I was at the NP, the tech showed me a watchband she'd gotten from amazon, so I did a little shopping! Bought one, and put a few on my wishlist.

I finished this book this morning, and I'll request the next in the series.

I'm 4 days into this page of my cross stitch.

I have one of the Ikea carts that the supplies live on. I have 6 divided boxes for the floss for this project, to keep it organized. There are people who do multiple projects at a time, but I'd need a cart and floss for each project, and it would get unwieldy. Plus, I tend to obsess about a project.

We're on two lists for the covid immunization. I'm hoping to hear from the other office of our doctor tomorrow with a date for shot #1. We have a date on the county website, but it's not til March, and we'd like to get it before then.

I've got 2 more books left of the 11 I got from the library! I've already put 5 in the drop off box, and have 3 more to be returned. When I start the last book, I'll request a new batch.

A New Day!

I spent hours with the TV on yesterday, tuned to the Inauguration. It was so well done! Such a sense of relief that now we can all go about our business without wondering what the orange idiot is up to. Now he's just another crazy old man in Florida.

I finished this page while the TV was on! I started this page on December 30, and it just took forever. Off course, I did take a snake break.

It's hard to see, but at one point it was snowing so hard! My phone doesn't take good snow pix.

I finished this last night, it was pretty good. First in a series.

OMG, the Bernie memes are so funny!

I did fine at the eye doc's, a small change in the reading prescription, which is good because I want new frames. I've had these for 3 years and I'm ready for a change.

Yesterday we went food shopping- we were out of so many things! Came home and the phone was ringing. Garrett wanted to tell us that the Inauguration was the most boring thing ever, and he wanted a hamburger to be president. So cute!

This morning I have an appointment with my NP, regular appointment. Ralph is at his usual Thursday breakfast with the veterans.

Eddie is supposed to return to in person school today, two days a week. He's happy to be able to drive himself to school, of course. What a strange senior year this is for him and all the other seniors.

Snakes 2021

The weekend was snake starter weekend!

Orange for Joey, and temps at my brother's house in Franklinville, since Joey is all over the place. Blue for Ben, and temps for Vienna.

Wow, I saw an ad for this cross stitch pattern! It's so beautiful! It might be my next project!

First thing I did this morning was check my email, start off aggravated. Optum RX is processing my prescription. WTF! They've been processing it for a week now, and I have two pills left! I had to call them and they graciously (sarcasm intended ) approved a 30 day supply from Walgreen's. Called the cardiologist office for the millionth time, and they sent the order over to Walgreen's. What a way to start a Monday morning!

Another week starts

The weeks are blending in to each other. At least the weather is holding, only the one snow so far.

That Darkness was very strange, but interesting. I've just started This Side of Murder.

I made Cowboy Casserole for dinner last night. Ground beef, corn, tomatoes, cream of celery soup, sour cream, cheese, topped with tater tots.
Really good, and enough for tonight also! A win!

I finally started this year's snakes!

Orange is for Joey. He'll be 8 next week! Sadly, another birthday without his daddy. But he has a lot of wonderful men in his life.

Blue is for this little cutie! Our two youngest great nephews.

This week I see the eye doc on Tuesday, and the NP on Thursday. Wednesday is a sad anniversary, my closest friend from high school died 11 years ago.

Friday again

We made it thru another week! Yay! Seeing the national Covid numbers, it's so scary! We have appointments for our vaccine, but not til March. Jersey has got it together pretty well, unlike some of the stupid states.

We picked up the HQ 16 from the quilt shop yesterday. The HQ guy did routine cleaning and oiling, and said she's in good shape.

It wasn't bad, $199. Since I pay over $100 to have my Janome serviced, I actually expected it to cost more. I haven't used the HQ for over a year, but I have some flimsy's I want to quilt and use.

I finished both Thin Ice and Moon Called, and moved on to Deal Breaker. All were/are
excellent, and I'll be requesting more in the series'.

I've been working on the cross stitch when I watch TV. I haven't started this year's snakes yet.

Since the days melt into one another, we have no weekend plans. With the Covid numbers so bad, we're staying in even more.

Wednesday?

I think it's Wednesday. It gets to the point where I'm not really sure.

I spent a bit of time on the phone first thing. I got an email from my mail order pharmacy that they had an issue. Called them, she figured out what the issue was, called the doc's office and she fixed it. No one's fault, just miscommunication and annoying.

Amanda and Steph have been drinking Adagio Tea, and Manda sent me some for Christmas. I liked it so much that I ordered some, and when it came they sent me a sample week of their CommuniTea. Kinda like the advent calendar tea. I was telling Manda, and she and I both ordered the February box. And Adagio is in jersey, yay!

I stayed up late reading this last night, and hope to finish it today. Really good! I did sign up for the Goodreads reading challenge, and I've been good about entering the books I'm reading.

Another inspiration picture! I like the way the stripes are worked.

We dropped off the HQ to be serviced yesterday, and we can pick her up tomorrow. I have a few flimsy's that I want to get done this year.

Book Club!

My Cookie Swap group had our first Google meets last night. It was so much fun! We haven't seen each other since last March, and had a lot of catching up to do. The book is One Perfect Summer. I read it, Gordanna has it, and the others will get it and (yeah right) read it for the February 8 meeting. The next book, suggested by Gordanna, will either be The Last Days of John Lennon or The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I requested LaRue, I'm number 35! The Lennon isn't up on the library site yet.

Some of us read all the time, some rarely. Since I've always been a reader, it blows my mind when people say they don't read. It's just a different mindset.

I'm still working on this page! So much confetti! But it looks so great.

In inspiration pic! I love the yellow and touches of blue, and it would go great in our room.

I just downloaded this pattern. I would change the colors, probably. I have to think about it.

Yesterday Ralph had the urge for Olive Garden, so we did curbside. I had fettuccine, he had spaghetti, and of course we had their salad. It was a nice change of pace. And he ordered us cheesecake, which we never got around to having last night, so we have for today- yay!

A beautiful Sunday

The sky is blue and it's going up to the 40's!

We did a curbside pickup at the library yesterday! I had 11 books in, Ralph had 5.

This is the first one I'm reading, because it's new and others may have it on request. So far it's really good.

My gnome collection may stay on the mantle til Easter! I supposed I should take down the little trees on the end.

I'm taking the HQ16 to a quilt shop on Tuesday, so it can have routine
maintenance. I haven't quilted in over a year, did not have the urge. I tend to get obsessed with things, and the counted cross stitch is the current obsession.

My Cookie Swap group is starting up our book club again. They were dithering about a book, and I suggested the book I was reading at the time, One Perfect Summer by Brenda Novak. That was about 2 months ago! So we're supposed to have a Zoom get together tomorrow night to discuss it. Even if we just end up chatting, it will be fun.

Stress stitching

I've tried not to stay glued to the TV following the disgraceful events of January 6. One reporter dubbed it "another day that will live in infamy." So I've been doing lots of cross stitching.

This was January 5.

This was
January 7. Lots and lots of confetti there. I did maybe 3-4 colors.

I also started this. It was a gift to myself. I was never a big fan of Obama when he was in office, but I love Michelle Obama and her book, and he's been on all the talk shows, and his book sounded interesting.

We put the tree away til next year. It had lots of lights, and I only got two ornaments on it- the dove from Mike and Sam, and the clear ornament with the contents of my ORT jar for 2020. I just never got into it this year. My gnomes are all on the mantle, and they can stay there til spring.

I had a run of atrial fib yesterday, not fun. The new med the doc put me on helped it.

I made an overnight French toast the other day, one that has cranberries and uses eggnog for the liquid. It came out really good! A keeper.

Snakes!

 Snakes arrived in Mill Creek!

They are a huge hit! Garrett named his Garrett, at least for now. Amary named hers Laze, for Lazy Snake. Manda sent me videos of the kids playing with the snakes. They were amazed at how long the snakes are. It's so much fun and so rewarding to make things for people who appreciate them. It's just great!

I moved the q snap on the counted cross stitch project. Lots of confetti, which give the project a richness of color.

I was just going back and forth between amazon and the library website, and requested a whole bunch of books. Some are available and will come this week, others have a waiting list and it will be a while, which is ok.

The state website to sign up for the Covid vaccine went up, and we're on the list. It could be months, which is ok, but we're on the list.

2021 is here!

May it be a better year than 2020 was!

For our New Years Eve dinner I made (heated up) a deli chicken from Sam's Club, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. It was so good! We stayed up til midnight and the noise making idiots stopped, then went to bed.

January 2 was Jake's funeral, a sad affair. But, he lived to be 92, which is quite an accomplishment.

Heather made us calendars! So we can all see the same pix each month! She did a great job.

Today is Heather and Ed's 19th anniversary! It doesn't seem that long ago. It was a lovely wedding.

She was such a beautiful bride!

Today is also a sad anniversary, Ralph's dad Rocco died 15 years ago.

I've been busy this morning. I made a to do list of things I want to get done in January. I made appointments with the eye doctor and the dermatologist. I made an appointment to take my HQ16 in for routine servicing. I haven't used it in over a year, and I want it checked and oiled before I use it.

I decided to try the Goodreads challenge, my goal is always 100 books per year. I've kept a notebook for years of all the books I read, but I'll give Goodreads a try.

Crochet wise, my goal is two snakes this year, for Joey and for Ben. And maybe a Yip Yip or two. I go with the flow for crocheting.

For Counted Cross Stitch, my project may take the rest of the year!

This is where I was at the end of 2020. I just moved the q snap. It's going to be fabulous when it's done.

And of course, a goal is to blog more often.
