August is almost over!

It's rainy off and on today. It was teeming earlier, when we were at the diner for breakfast.

Woodland is done! It came out way longer than I wanted, but I didn't want to lose the color variations. It represents the forest, with the bottom being the ground, and the top being the sky. It was an Attic24 free pattern. Lucy writes easy to follow patterns, and has a great eye for color.

One of my favorite pictures of my favorite guy! He was 20 or 21 there, taken in Vietnam.

And this is our oldest grandson, Eddie, at 19. I see a resemblence!

I finished a good book by one of my favorite authors!

Pizza from our favorite pizza places! No one can beat pizza from the Delaware Valley!

Another Manic Monday

August is on it's way out. When I worked, I wasn't ready to go back to work, but was ready to collect a paycheck again. Now, I'm looking forward to cooler weather. It's going to be almost 90 today, then cooler for about a week.

I did a thing! I bought a Breville convection oven that's also an air fryer, etc. So far we ran it empty as the instructions  said to, and used the air fryer. It's pretty cool.

My big crepe myrtle in the front yard is blooming! I suspect the deer got to the lower blooms.

Woodland is looking good! To me, it screams Oregon, or maybe New England, so it's earmarked for Steph and Dan.

It's the weekend!

We went to Cinder Bar for brunch. I had the peach cobbler french toast, he had bananas foster french toast. Mine was good, but too much- one slice of french toast would have been fine. I ate over half of it, he had a little, and we left the rest because it would not have warmed up well.

Our sunflowers are looking so good! No cats were in the cat hammocks because it was sunny and hot and they are off chilling in the flower bed.

After 11 years in my basement, Sam's ashes were buried Friday next to Ben. Long story- second husband's ashes were to be buried with hers, but he defected after Sam's death and went back to his first wife. When he died, she used the prepaid burial and buried him with her family. So I put her where she wanted to be, with her first husband and her beloved pets.

Project update

 August is moving right along!

I'm so happy with how Woodland is coming along. I dropped to an F hook, because the G was making things so big that I couldn't do all the rows without the project being way too long.

Oh my goodness, look who's driving! Jules has one more session with the driving school, then she can drive with a licensed driver. She has the date for her test set, the day after her 17th birthday. I was surprised at how young some states let kids drive, it's always been 17 here. And it used to be that you couldn't get a permit til your 17th birthday. Now if you go to driving school when you are 16, you have that whole year to practice with a licensed driver.

Heather was here yesterday, and brought us tomatoes from her garden, nice, ripe, ruby red tomatoes. Of course we had bacon and tomato sandwiches for lunch! Nothing better than a jersey tomato, it tastes like summer!

She also brought two monster zucchinis. I shared one with my neighbor, since I still have shredded zucchini in the freezer. I just found a recipe for chocolate zucchini cake, and I plan to make cupcakes from the recipe tomorrow.

We had a nice visit with her, and she trimmed Ralph's hair. He's growing it out to donate again, and just needed the sides trimmed, and the hairdresser gets carried away. Heather has been cutting Ed and Eddie's hair for years, and does a really good job.

August!

We had a few really nice days, so I had the windows open and it felt great! Then last night the humidity leaped up, and the windows are closed and the AC is back on.

I have a new afghan start, #9. It's called Woodland Ripple, and it's another from the Attic 24 blog.

I love it! The colors aren't quite as bright as the camera makes them.

I just love the colors!

I borrowed this pic from someone's post on Facebook. She was kind enough to send me the pattern, and the yarn arrived today. So beachy looking! It's two different shaded yarns. She did it lap sized, but I'll figure the numbers to make it bigger.
