More snow

It started snowing Friday night, and snowed til Saturday afternoon! Heather was working Friday night, so the first thing I did when I got up Saturday was to make sure she got home okay.

We got about a foot of snow!

I finished Ralph's hat, so his head was nice and warm when he as outside!

Eddie in action!

The watch I got for Ralph for Christmas can track your sleep. We decided I should wear it last night because I haven't been sleeping well.

I actually got more deep sleep than I thought! It's fascinating that the watch can track the layers of sleep.

January seemed to crawl by, but we're at the end now!

Craftiness!

 First, a finished object!

It turned out better than I thought it would. The yarn was very soft, and strange to work with. Some future baby will get to use it.

Next, work in progress:

I'm not thrilled with it - yet. I ordered wreath forms and large pastel bows. We couldn't get the hanger to be round enough to suit me, and you can't see the crochet hooks from a distance. So I'll take it apart and redo it on the wreath form. Of course buying the wreath form and bows made it not free, but that's ok.

We're (maybe) going to get dumped with snow this weekend. It could be a huge amount, or it could be nothing- what else is new?

I made bread pudding with raisin bread in the crockpot yesterday, it came out pretty good. It was dessert for the stuffed shells and meatballs that I made. And enough for today, too- bonus!

Tomorrow is lunch with the teachers, which is always fun.

More snow!

It rained during the night, and now it's changing to snow. We're only supposed to get a couple of inches.

A finish! It will be added to the baby blankets that I keep for when one is needed. I had made this same kit before, and when Steph was last home she needed a gift for one of her employees who was having a baby, so she took it back with her.

Work in progress! Only a few rounds left to do. I'm not crazy about this one, the yarn is soft and I thought the colors were garish, but it looks good in the picture. Another one to add to the collection to be used when needed. After that, I want to do another hat, then go back to my cross stitch. I'm also gathering colors for an afghan for my great niece Tori.

Tomorrow the cleaners come!

Today is the 12th anniversary of the death of my high school BFF Linda. It's hard to believe it's so long. Three of my high school friends didn't live long enough to retire, which is so sad.

More bad weather!

The forecast is for rain, snow, sleet and whatever! Sunday night into Monday, so at least it won't affect school.

Soup! I made soup in the crockpot! A bottle of V8, a pound of browned ground beef, fresh spinach, and cans of corn, stewed tomatoes with basil and garlic, potatoes and carrots. It made a lot, so I sent some to our neighbor Dave and his son.

Work in progress! I hope to finish it this week, so today or tomorrow. I only have one round and the border left.

We just did some errands= post office, Entenmann's, library. Now I think we're in for the day.

Monday morning

We're supposed to have a super cold week!  The snow is mostly gone, either melted by the rain or by the temps in the 40's over the weekend.

Saturday we made a library run, for curbside pickup.

The original wearing of the cape! They were so young!

Running toward her prince!

Not quite a white horse, but close!

Eddie and Jules on the quad, and Eddie in action!

Steph wrote a lovely tribute to David. It says "We were born in the same year, with me ahead by five months. I've never experienced a December 19th without you in the world. It's much gloomier and sadder this way. Love always." December 19 is his birthday.

Here's something I've never heard of, and not sure if I want to try!

Snow!

Lots of snow! Probably six inches! Enough to close the schools again! Jules has had 3 snow days this week!

Funny enough, this storm is named Garrett, which amused Manda.

It looks so pretty! The Boro truck came out and plowed our little hill, which can be hard to go up. My dental appointment got cancelled, which is ok. The mail truck has already been here.

My plans for the day include drinking tea, crocheting with the TV on, and some reading.

Snow!

We got about 6 inches of snow on Monday, Heather got more, since she's closer to the shore. Then we got a little rain, so it's mostly gone. Tonight we're supposed to get 4-5 more inches.

Tuesday was Heather and Ed's 20th anniversary! So of course Heather was out in the snow with her cape and tiara, and of course Jules had to pose with the cape. She looks like a snow princess! So beautiful.

This is a kit for a baby afghan, I figured I would do it while on my break from the cross stitch.

I don't know how I missed this author, she has like 60 books out! She said the inspiration for this one were the movies Gaslight and Rear Window. It was fantastic, very suspenseful and lots of tension.

I made turkey breast in the crockpot Monday. It came out so good, so moist! I made an 8 pound one, we love the leftovers. Turkey sandwich is my favorite, just turkey, salt and mayo on toast. Yum!

The decorations are mostly down. My gnome family is still on the mantle, but they are more winter than Christmas. And I haven't gotten around to changing out the shower curtains yet.

We went food shopping yesterday, so we're in good shape, not that we're ever snowed in for very long. And Ralph had breakfast with the Veterans, so he brought me home an omelet and bacon.

It's 2022!

Yikes! Not sure how that happened!

I had this urge to start the year organized. So right before New Year's, we took everything out from the two lazy Susan cabinets and lined it all up on the counters. Grouped all the like items together, checked all expiration dates, tossed what was expired, made an inventory list, and put it all back.

Then tried to print the pages. Huh. Google sheets was not cooperating, would only print the first page. Called Steph, who tried printing one of hers, same thing. Decided to take a shower while pondering. Came up with the solution of taking a pic of each page, and printing the pic. Not the best solution, as it didn't solve the problem, but it will do til Steph figures out the answer.

New Years Eve day, we did the pantry, then the freezer. Made a huge shopping list in the process. Spoke to Steph, who said they were going to do their spice shelf! I never thought of that! So New Years Day, I did my spice shelf. If it was expired or stuck together, out it went! Luckily, trash day is tomorrow.

Because I'm incredibly boring, I save all my yarn wrappers all year. Last year, I never got around to gathering and adding them up, so this year was for 2020 and 2021. Almost 30 pounds of yarn used in two years! I impressed myself!

And the books I read! Actually, the number is slightly higher because I reread some of the Patricia Briggs books, and Goodreads will only let you list a book once.

Fabric I used would be zero, just not into sewing last year.

It's been in the 40's and 50's for weeks! Now they are saying snow tomorrow, and temps in the teens starting midweek! It's actually going to act like January, imagine that!

Welcome to 2022!
