Our anniversary

May 27 was our 53rd anniversary! Yikes! So long ago, but seems like yesterday. We celebrated by going to our favorite drive up burger place for lunch, and bringing home takeout for dinner. Such party animals!

More table runners! I got the last of the 7 for cookie swap finished yesterday!

This great kid graduates next month, and will start Stockton in September. For one year, Heather and Ed will have 2 in Stockton! It's the start of a new chapter for Jules.

Table runners in progress

My friend Carol died suddenly last month. I'd known her for 45 years! She was a co-worker for Artcraft Concepts, and she started our Cookie Swap group. We'd get together to swap cookies every December, thus the name. It started out with a bunch of us, and many dropped out as the years went on. We meet every few months to have dinner together, and several years ago added husbands to the group. We're now multi-generational!

Her memorial service will be in early June. I'd had an idea cooking in my brain for several months, to make table runners for everyone, with matching backing. I found fabric with cookies and baking utensils on equilter, and got 4 yards of it. I was going to do the runners for around Christmas.

Then Carol died, and I decided to make each of the group a different runner, with the cookie backing, in Carol's memory. I had a bunch of charm packs, so of course, zig zag runners. I have a bunch of the tops done.

For Kamee, a teacher, and Sarah, a librarian. They are second generation Cookie Swappers, and Kamee is Carol's daughter, and Sarah is her niece.

For Mary Beth, a retired principal who lives down the shore near the beach.

For Sandie, who is Carol's sister in law, Sarah's mom, and needs some brightness in her world.

For Franny, a retired banker who loves purple, and Janet, who may come up from Georgia for the memorial.

For Gordanna, a lawyer and Mary Beth's daughter, and her wife Mary Ann, who works for the government.

Talk about a labor of love!

Rainy Week

It's rained almost every day this week, which is ok. Tuesday I almost had an EMG of my legs, but because of the "swelling" in my legs, it couldn't be done- I have my grandmother's Irish peasant legs, I think it's fat not swelling, but whatever. So back to the drawing board, aka the NP.

This gorgeous girl had her senior prom! It was in Ocean City, thus the beach pix.

Two days later she co-won a Cappie award for her part in choreography in her school musical! A busy girl!

And this little pumpkin is now 3 months old! Time is flying!

Heather came up on Mother's Day and brought us pizza, cake, cushions for the porch couch, and this beautiful silk flower arrangement! And chocolate!

And I think I got the tension issues on the HQ under control!

Beautiful May weather

It's been spring! Jersey usually gets about an hour of spring before leaping into heat and humidity!

Last week we had the electricians out to add an outlet for the HQ, fix two outlets in the laundry room that were "too deep" as per Ralph, and dedicated a circuit in the kitchen to the microwave because someone who will be nameless turns on the Keurig every time I have the microwave on and blew the circuit. Two guys, 3 hours and $900 later, it was all fixed.

Thursday my remote would only change volume, not channels. Ralph texted with Comcast support, and we ended up taking the remote and the DVR to Comcast for replacement. The 4th time in a year, so I said I want a tech out to figure it out. He came Saturday, gave us yet another DVR, did something to the connection that meets the house, and maybe fixed it.

Friday I had to be at Cooper at 6 a.m. to have my loop recorder replaced. It sends a constant ekg to the company, who report to my cardiologist. Thankfully Heather drove us! It's a ten minute procedure, and we were out of there by 8:30.

So Happy May! I love the calendars Heather made us so much!

Boone in her first Carhart's, courtesy of her Pop, of course. The baby has stolen her Daddy's face! So adorable!

I finished her Mardi Gras hat for next winter! It goes much faster when you actually work on it! I sent Samantha a pic, and she loves it. So now that's done, back to fooling with the HQ tension.

Today I have the ultrasounds on my legs, so I might not get much else done.

It's May!

Namaste! Happy May! It's been such a week!

This is Madam Wu. She's a hosta and was Mom's pride and joy, so I brought her home after Mom died. She grows and is beautiful every year. This year, Heather took some of the root home, so Madam is a mama! She dies back every winter, and comes back in the spring. Her pot is in the shade, and she thrives on benign neglect.

After my car mishap, I've had problems with anxiety when I drive, and my right leg seems weaker. Ralph thought PT, so I called the NP on Monday morning for an appointment. I called at 10:15 and they asked if I could be there at 11:15! Yeah! She wants an EMG and a doppler of my leg before she orders anything, so I have to set them up.

Tuesday I had an appointment with the derm NP. She biopsied an area on my right cheek that she felt was iffy, so we're waiting on that result.

Wednesday we paid the taxes, picked up Rx's. and went to Aldi. It's German week, and I wanted strudel and soft pretzels from the frozen food aisle.

Today Ralph is at breakfast with the Veterans. I really want to fool with tension on the HQ.

Tomorrow I get the battery replaced in my cardiac loop recorder. Dr. Andrulli tells me it's easy peasy- no labs, no NPO. Just a local, an incision to pop out the old battery and pop in a new one, and I'm on my way. He does it out of Cooper, and Heather said she'd drive us, which we're grateful for.

So, wow, a busy week by our standards!
